Winter sports

Mineral consumption should not be underestimated in winter either!

Whether cross-country skiing, biathlon, slalom or downhill skiing - the body is put under a lot of strain and concentration is required. As energy consumption is also very high in the cold, you should replenish your stores with sufficient minerals before the start of a successful competition. If you ignore this, you will experience the notorious “drop in performance”.

For longer distances, such as biathlon or cross-country skiing, it is important to ensure that carbohydrates and sodium (salt) are supplied during the race. The best way to do this is with an isotonic warm drink, which can be provided by the coach.

In the case of high levels of concentration, such as in the downhill or slalom, an “energy kick” shortly before the start is very effective. A liquid carbohydrate gel from a tube is the insider tip of successful winter athletes.

Those who regenerate well will also be able to perform at their best the following day. The “injured” muscle cells should therefore be rebuilt with proteins immediately after the race.
